Overview
Marijuana is legal for medical patients in Louisiana, but recreational use remains illegal. Louisiana first authorized medical cannabis in 1991, but a functional dispensary program didn't launch until 2019. The program expanded significantly in 2021 to include smokable cannabis flower.
