Maryland Is About to Make It Illegal to Fire a Firefighter for Using Medical Cannabis Off Duty
The Maryland legislature passed HB 797 by a 100–31 margin last week, protecting firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics from job loss for lawful medical cannabis use outside of work. Governor Sherrill is expected to sign it. The question it raises is harder to answer: why did this take so long?
